A Pokemon neutral nature is fine when the stakes are low, the Pokemon is temporary, or the rest of the build matters more. Early story teams, casual favorites, collection Pokemon, and one-off playthrough partners do not need perfect natures to be worth using.
It is also fine when you are still learning the Pokemon. Sometimes the right first step is not choosing the perfect nature. It is discovering whether the Pokemon wants to attack, defend, pivot, set hazards, sweep, or support. Once the job is clear, the nature becomes obvious.
